This policy explains what Shiftpunch does with your data. The short version: Shiftpunch collects nothing about you. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising, and no server of ours that receives your shifts or your pay.
What Shiftpunch stores on your device
Shiftpunch is a work-hours and pay tracker. Everything it holds is something you typed or tapped:
- Your shifts: start and end time, breaks, the job it belongs to, notes, and optional tips and distance. If you change a punched time by hand, the originally punched time is kept so the shift can be marked as edited.
- Your jobs: name, colour, hourly rate, currency, and the overtime, double-time, night, weekend, holiday, break and allowance rules you set.
- Planning data you create: shift templates, rotations and planned shifts, and time off (vacation, sick days and similar).
- Pay records you enter yourself: bonuses, tips, deductions, advances, expense refunds, the pay period you choose, the withholding percentage for the take-home estimate, and — if you use the paycheck check — the amount you say you received.
- Settings such as theme, language, week start, rounding and reminder times.
All of this is written to the app's private storage on your phone. To protect you against data loss, the app also keeps a backup copy of the same data in its own private storage. None of it is transmitted to us. We never see your employer, your wage, or your hours.
Android backup
If backup is turned on in your phone's Android settings, Android may include Shiftpunch's private app data in the backup it stores in your own Google account, so your shifts can come back on a new phone. This is a feature of Android managed by Google under your Google account settings; we have no access to it. You can turn it off in Android Settings.
Notifications, reminders and widgets (Shiftpunch Pro)
- Live timer notification: while you are punched in, the app can show a notification with a running timer and Break / Punch out buttons. It is created on your phone; nothing is sent anywhere.
- Reminders ("still punched in", "before a planned shift", weekly check-in) are scheduled locally by Android on your phone.
- Widgets show your current shift, today's and this week's totals and your next payday on your home screen. Anyone who can see your screen can see them; remove the widget if you prefer.
- The app asks for the notification permission only when you turn one of these on. It also restores the timer notification after the phone restarts.
Pay figures are estimates
The amounts Shiftpunch shows are arithmetic on the numbers you entered. They are not a payslip, not payroll, and not legal, tax or financial advice. The take-home estimate uses only the percentage and fixed deduction you type in. Shiftpunch is not connected to any employer, payroll provider or tax authority. Always check your own contract and payslip.
Where your data goes when you export it
If you export a PDF timesheet, a CSV file, a calendar (.ics) file or a JSON backup, Shiftpunch writes that file on your device and hands it to Android's share sheet. Where it goes from there is entirely your choice — we never receive it.
Deleting your data
- Delete individual shifts, jobs, time off or other entries inside the app, or
- Clear the app's storage in Android Settings, or
- Uninstall Shiftpunch.
Uninstalling removes the data on your phone. A copy in your own Android backup (if enabled) is managed in your Google account settings.
Network access
Shiftpunch declares the internet permission for exactly two reasons:
- Google Play Billing. Subscriptions are sold and processed by Google. Payment details are handled by Google Play and are never seen or stored by us.
- Remote configuration. On start-up, the app may fetch a small settings file from our server (
hq.bnj.app). This request carries no personal data and no identifiers. If it fails, the app works normally with its built-in defaults. As with any web request, our hosting provider may record standard server logs (IP address, timestamp) for that request.
The app works fully offline. Tracking hours, calculating pay, reminders and exporting files never require a connection.
What Shiftpunch does not do
- No user accounts, no sign-in, no registration.
- No analytics or usage-tracking SDK, no crash-reporting SDK.
- No advertising, and no advertising identifier.
- No location, camera, contacts or microphone permission.
- No sale or sharing of data — there is no data to sell.
Children
Shiftpunch is a tool for working adults and is intended for users aged 18 and over. It collects nothing from anyone, regardless of age.
Your rights
Because we hold no personal data about you, there is nothing for us to export, correct or erase on our side. Everything the app produces lives on your device (and, if you enabled it, in your own Android backup) and is under your control.
Changes
If this policy changes, the current version will always be on this page with a new date at the top.
